Stephen Barrett is from Deerfield
Massachusetts, where he graduated from
Frontier Regional High school in 1999. He
Enlisted in the Navy in August, 1999.  
Upon completion of Basic Training, Steve
reported to Gunners Mate “A” school
in Great Lakes IL.  After graduating “A” school
he reported to Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL
(BUDS) class 231, and graduated October, 2000.

While on active duty, Steve’s operational assignments include SEAL Team Eight from 2001 to 2007, where he completed multiple deployments to South America, Iraq, Europe and Africa; Naval Special Warfare’s training command from 2007 to 2010, where he served as lead Breacher Instructor, and was selected as the 2009 Sailor of the Year for Naval Special Warfare Center.  From there, Steve went to SEAL Team Two from 2010 to 2016 where he completed multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Africa as a Platoon Chief and Troop Chief.
After serving at SEAL Team TWO, he then transferred to Naval Special Warfare Group Two Logistic and Support Unit from 2016 to 2017, where he served as the Operations Master Chief.
Steve then transferred to SEAL Team FOUR where he served as the Operations Master Chief from 2017 to 2019, and as the SEAL Team FOUR, Command Master Chief. His last operational tour was as the senior enlisted leader of the Recruiting and Manning department at Naval Special Warfare Group 8.  

Steve’s qualifications included being a U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and Command Master Chief course graduate, a Static Line and Military Freefall Parachutist, a Naval Instructor, SEAL Sniper, Breacher, Master Training Specialist, Range Safety Officer, Close Quarter Combat/Small Arms Range/Demolition/Explosive Breaching/ Dynamic Ground Mobility (Fire and Movement/Maneuver Range Safety Officer in charge (RSOIC).  

His personal military awards include the Bronze Star with “Valor” for Heroism, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation, Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with “Valor”, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (4), and Combat Action ribbon (2).

After retiring from the Navy in 2022, Steve co-founded Proventus, LLC, where he was the Director of Training.  Steve recently left Proventus to start his own company, Barrett Strategic Leadership Group, LLC, where he is now the CEO.

Steve lives in Jonesboro, Arkansas with his wife Hannah Lynn Barrett, and their six children
